The owner of the Boro inrigation scheme has been accused of stopping the irrigation of farmers’ land due to personal disputes in Bhangura upazila of Pabna. As a result, boro field has burst due to lack of water. The incident happened in Singari village of Ashtamanisha union of the upazila. Farmer Rafiq Ali, the owner of Boro field, filed a written complaint with the Upazila Nirbahi Officer in this regard.
Farmer Rafiq said that the scheme owner Abdur Rahim was irrigating the land since the beginning of cultivation but recently he is not irrigating his land due to personal disputes. As a result, his Boro field has exploded. He has faced serious losses.
Scheme owner Abdur Rahim said, “The real owner of that land is Nazrul Islam and Rafiq is the bargadar. As Nazrul Islam had a dispute with me over another piece of land, I have stopped the irrigation of his Bargadar’s cultivated land”.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Nahid Hasan Khan admitted receiving a complaint in this regard and said that the Deputy Assistant Engineer of BADC has been instructed to investigate the matter and submit a report on Tuesday.
