Comilla storm into final of BPL Cricket

Comilla Victorians stormed into the final of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket defeating Sylhet Strikers by four wickets in their match of the 1st qualifier at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Sunday.
Batting first Sylhet scored a modest total of 125 off 17.1 overs.
In reply, Comilla sailed home making 130 for the loss of six wickets when they had 20 balls to spare.
Openers Litton Das and Sunil Narine of Comilla had a good start as they scored together 32 runs in the opening stand before Litton (7) was dismissed by Rubel Hossain.
After Litton’s departure, Sunil could not stay at the pitch for a long period as he was bowled out by Tanzim Hasan Sakib when Comilla’s total was 48 for the loss of two wickets.
Sunil hit a windy 39. His 18-ball innings had four sixes and three fours.
Third-down Mosaddek Hossain and fourth-down Moeen Ali contributed together 34 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Moeen Ali (21) was dismissed by Rubel Hossain when Comilla’s score was 107 for the loss of five wickets.
Later, Mosaddek Hossain and Andre Russell brought their team scoring together 23 runs in the unbroken seven-wicket stand to chase the Sylhet’s total.
Mosaddek remained unbeaten with 27 runs, while Andre Russel remained unbeaten with 15 runs. Rubel Hossain was his team’s most successful bowler with three wickets for 33 runs.
Sylhet Strikers lost their early three wickets for 16 runs.
Opener Najmul Hossain Shanto and third-down Mashrafe Bin Mortaza mended the innings contributing together 56 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (26) was caught by Tanvir Islam off Andre Russell when Sylhet’s score was 72 for the loss of four wickets.
After Mashrafe’s dismissal, Shanto could stay at the crease for a short period as he was bowled out by Tanvir Islam when Sylhet’s score was 78 for the loss of five wickets.
Shanto hit a sparkle 38. His 29-ball innings had four fours and a sixer.
Mushfiqur Rahim made 29 from 22 balls hitting four fours.
Andre Russell, Mustafizur Rahman and Tanvir Islam captured two wickets each instead of 22, 25 and 30 runs respectively.
Besides, Sunil Narine, Mukidul Islam and Moeen Ali took one wicket apiece.
