IAFM’s cine symposium on Mise en scène at AFD

Mise en scène is an important aspect of cinema. Basically, this concept comes to cinema from stage plays. Recently the International Academy of Film and Media (IAFM) organised a day-long symposium in this regard. The closing and certificate ceremony of the symposium was held at the Alliance Française auditorium in Dhanmondi from 10:00am to 7:00pm, said a press release.
The session has been started with the speech of the Director of the Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD), François Grosjean. At the beginning of the symposium, the movie ‘ZANA’ directed by Antonetta Castrati starring Andreano Matossi was screened. The film represented Kosovo in the 2020 Oscar competition.
Then the cinematographer of this movie Sevdije Kastrati participated in the online session.
She describes the experience of organising the shooting of this movie. Sevdije is the first female filmmaker from Kosova, who graduated from the American Film Institute in filmmaking and is working in Hollywood.
After that, Indian film scholar Professor Sanjoy Mukhopadhyay participated in the online session. He theorized on Mise -en -scene. After lunch held an in-person session took place with noted filmmaker Amitabh Reza Chowdhury and his short film show. The closing and certificate giving ceremony started with the welcome speech of the Executive Director of IAFM Bibesh Roy.
In the ceremony, Ambassador of the EU, Charles Whiteley was present there as chief guest, the special guest was the Director of AFD François Grosjean, and noted filmmaker Amitabh Reza Chowdhury. In this session, a number of ambassadors and diplomats were present there from different countries.
