Production of Rampal Power Plant to be resumed next week June

The 2nd Unit of Bangladesh-India Friendship coal based Power Plant at Rampal in Bagerhat district will go in operation in the next June (2023) if every thing is ok and in this connection the concerned authorities took all the necessary preparations. It was commented by Pronoy Bharma, High Commissioner of India in Bangladesh while he visited the power plant recently .
The High Commissioner also told, the 1st unit of the power plant that was suspended its production for want of coal on January 14 will resume its production by the next week. He added, considering all the environmental facilities the power plant was established at Rampal and it is being conducted by an efficient management. So, it will not affect Sundarbans mangrove forest at all. It may be mentioned here that due to the sudden suspension of the supply of coal from Indonesia to the power plant its production was stopped suddenly. This problem was created for the cause of delayed release of dollars. This problem was solved by this time and a ship carrying coal already left Indonesia for the power plant. It is expected that the coal laden ship will arrive at the power plant within a week. It was disclosed to the newsmen by Sayeed Ekram Ullah, Director (Management) of the power plant on Saturday. He added, supply of coal to the power plant will continue henceforth without any interruption. Besides this, all the necessary woks are going on in full swing and with top priority to operate the second unit of he power plant. Consequently, the power plant will be able to produce 1320 megawatts electricity very soon without any interruption. In reply to a question Sayeed Ekram Ullah told, if the payment in dollars can be paid in due time no problem will be created to import the coal regularly.
 It is mentionable here that Bangladesh-India Friendship Super Thermal power plant was established at Rampal in Bagerhat district using ultra super critical technology at a cost of about 200 cros US dollars. It was funded by Exim Bank of India. Its total production capacity is 1320 megawatts electricity.
Its phase-1 was inaugurated ceremonially by the Premiers of India and Bangladesh in the month of September in the year 2022 and it went into operation in the monmth December of the same year. Its producing electricity was joined with National Electricity Grid. The phase-2 of the power plant will go in operation very soon.
