9 people including land official sent to jail for illegally cutting trees

Nine people including land official sent to jail for illegally cutting the trees of forest in Galachipa under Patuakhali district.
The court has sent nine accused, including Zakir Hossain, deputy assistant officer of Charbishwas Union land office under Galachipa upazila, sent to jail in a case filed in connection with the construction of a road by encroaching the reserved forest in Galachipa of Patuakhali.
Galachipa Upazila Range Officer of the Forest Department Jahangir Hossain confirmed the matter to the media on Monday. According to the details of the case, on November 7, 2022, under the Char Agasti Forest Camp, Char Agasti Forest Camp Beat Officer Abdul Hai, as the plaintiff, filed the case in the court for committing an offense under Section 26 (1A) of the Forest Act, 1927 as amended in 2000 and sub-sections (b) and (e) of the same section.
The nine accused in the case are Shahin (35), Ripon Peyada (40), Jamal Peyada (35), Mannan Matubbar (45), Zakir Hossain (55), Kawsar (25), Mahabub Peyada (55), Delwar Hossain (55), Renu Akhtar (45) and Anwar Mridha (50) of South Charbishwas village under Galachipa upazila of Patuakhali district. Besides, 20 to 30 other unknown persons also accused in the case.
