Late Salman Shah’s family takes legal action against the plot of ‘Buker Moddhe Agun’
Entertainment Report :
Tanim Rahman Anshu directed web series titled ‘Buker Moddhe Agun’ has recently wrapped
production. The series, which
has been produced by Alpha Eye, is slated for release on the OTT platform Hoichoi soon. However, even before release of this, the web series ‘Buker Moddhe Agun’ has caused quite a stir due to its storyline. It is widely speculated that the plot revolves around
the untimely death of popular
film star Salman Shah.
Based on such rumours, Salman Shah’s mother Neela Chowdhury has filed a writ in the High Court not to air the series. Maternal uncle of Salman Shah, Alamgir Kumkum has also sent a legal notice to the series creators through a lawyer on February 5.
Salman’s mother Nilufar Chowdhury is moving to the High Court seeking a stay on the airing of the web series starred by Ziaul Faruq Faruq Apurba and a complete ban on the production of songs, dramas, movies and web series related to Salman Shah. Besides, his uncle and former actor Alamgir Kumkum also served a legal notice on the makers of the web series including the director, producer and OTT platform Hoichoi, which is scheduled to air the series from February 17.
Sylhet Judge’s Court lawyer Mohammad Moinul Islam served the notice on Kumkum’s behalf. The notice read: “Salman Shah, the nephew of my client, was found dead in his home. My client’s nephew’s unexplained death was presented as a suicide to put things in a different light. The lawsuit is still pending in court. My client has expressed concern over the recent attempt to create a web series based on the mysterious passing of his nephew. Given the circumstances that Salman Shah’s death is still an active legal issue at court, it is illegal to produce a television series about the case.”
The notice also stated that Alamgir Kumkum would move the court if the makers of the series do not stop production.
Although there was no mention of Salman Shah, the story line indicates that it is based on him and the web series is also named after Salman Shah’s last movie.
Debuting in 1993 with the movie ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat’ Salman Shah worked on a total of 27 movies in only four years. On September 6, 1996, Salman Shah passed away leaving many adoring fans in tears.
While talking in this matter, director Tanim Rahman Angshu told media, “We based the plot of the series on a story from the 90s. However, there is no mention of Salman Shah in the series. Salman Shah is not the subject here. We don’t know why Salman’s family is thinking this way. We also like him a lot and don’t want to do anything that would defame him. So, this whole complaint thing seems irrelevant to me.”
Besides Apurba, the cast of the web series also includes Tariq Anam Khan, Tauqeer Ahmed, Gazi Rakayet, Yash Rohan and Tama Mirza in other major roles.
