Khaleda didn’t sign any bond to quit politics: Law Minister

Staff Reporter :
‘BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will not do politics’ such undertakings were not in the executive release order petition.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque said this while responding to questions from journalists after the opening ceremony of the ’11th Orientation Course’ of Additional District and Sessions Judges at the Bangladesh Judicial Administration Training Institute auditorium on Monday.
Earlier, on January 26, Awami League’s lawmaker Sheikh Fazlul Karim Salim claimed that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has given undertakings in her petition that she will not do politics. Based on the undertakings, she was taken her home from jail.
Sheikh Salim made this claim by participating in the discussion of the motion of thanks on the President’s speech in the Parliament.
Anisul Haque said, “The speech that given by a lawmaker in Parliament on January 26 was not wrong at all. However, as far as I know, there were no such undertakings from Khaleda Zia in the executive release order petition.”
The Law Minister, however, said that he heard through newspapers that her (Khaleda Zia) brother Shamim Iskandar told BNP leaders that Begum Khaleda Zia should not be involved in political programmes.
