Smith claims 4th Allan Border Medal

Agency :
Steve Smith has claimed yet another Allan Border Medal to catapult himself alongside fellow giants of the game in Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke as four-time recipients of the most prestigious award in Australian cricket.
The batsman collected 171 votes at the Australian cricket awards, beating out both Travis Head (144) and David Warner (141) for the honour.
Smith, who also took out the prize in 2015, 2018 and 2021, emphatically answered any questions around his future with a return to his best last year as his 1,524 runs was the most by any Australian.
Elsewhere, Usman Khawaja won the inaugural Shane Warne Men’s Test Player of the Year, edging out Marnus Labuschagne and Smith to mark an incredible return from exile after he smashed over 1,000 runs in the year.
Beth Mooney enjoyed a memorable night, claiming her second Belinda Clark Award, following a season where she accumulated 976 runs across all three formats. She also won the Women’s ODI Player of the Year.
