Tiger injures fisherman in Morrelganj

A fisherman named Anukul Gain (42) was fatally injured when a Royal Bengal tiger attacked him in Sundarbans, adjacent to Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district on Friday while he was catching crabs from a canal of the forest, according to a report received here. The injured fisherman Anukul Gain was the son of one late Mukunda Gain of village Nalbunia under the Upazila.
It is learnt from the locals that in the morning while Anukul Gain was catching crabs from Sudhirer Sila area under the Eastern Division of Sundarbans (in Bagerhat district) he was suddenly attacked by a Royal Bengal tiger. Then his associate fishweman Mahabub of the same village cried out for help loudly. On hearing the crying while some villagers and fishermen rushed to the spot the tiger fled away leaving him (Anukul Gain) severely injured. Then they recovered him from there and rushed him to Morelganj Upazla Health Complex for his treatment at noon. But considering the gravity of the injuries the victim was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
