Rangpur Riders posted an easy five-wicket win over Dhaka Dominators in the match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday.
Rangpur Riders grabbed 10 points from eight matches, while Dhaka Dominators remained with four points from nine matches.
Chasing Dhaka’s total of 144 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, Rangpur romped home scoring 146 for the loss of five wickets when they had one over to spare.
Rangpur had a sorrow start as opener Mohammad Naim (0) was trapped leg before wicket by Salman Irshad when Rangpur’s score was just five runs.
Opener Rony Talukdar and one-down Mahedi Hasan mended the innings contributing together 63 runs for the second wicket partnership before Rony Talukdar was caught by Taskin Ahmed off Amir Hamza when Rangpur’s total was 68 for the loss of two wickets.
After Rony’s dismissal, Rangpur failed to make any notable partnership.
Mahedi Hasan notched up a splendid 72. His 43-ball innings was laced with five sixes and six fours. Earlier, he took one wicket for 13 runs. Hasan was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Rony made 29 from 28 balls featuring five fours.
Salman Irshad was the most successful bowler of Dhaka with two wickets at the cost of 36 runs.
Earlier, Dhaka faced an early debacle as they lost 28 runs for three wickets for 28 runs.
One-down Osman Ghani and Mohammad Mithun repaired the damage scoring together 41 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Mithun (14) was bowled out by Rakibul Hasan when Dhaka’s total was 69 for the loss of four wickets.
Osman remained unbeaten with 73 runs. His 55-ball knock saw three sixes and seven fours.
Osman and Nasir Hossain added together 55 runs in the fifth wicket stand before Nasir was run out by Hasan Mahmud when Dhaka’s score was 124 for the loss of five wickets.
Nasir scored 29 from 22 deliveries featuring three fours and a sixer.
Azmatullah Omarzai bagged two wickets at the cost of 27 runs, while Rakibul Hasan took one wicket for 21 runs.
