ACC to investigate allegation against AL MP Golap

Staff Reporter :
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will take steps against Awami League lawmaker, Abdus Sobhan Miah alias Golap, from Madaripur-3 constituency if ACC’s law permits it.
After a case file against Golap by Supreme Court lawyer, Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon, the ACC’s secretary Md Mahbubur Rahman made the comment in reply to the journalist’s query on Tuesday.
ACC secretary said any one can file case against anyone in ACC. If the ACC’s law permits to investigate the allegation then ACC will do it.
After filing of the case, Barrister Sumon said to the media that Golap has purchased multiple homes in New York of the United States at a cost of USD 4 million. But he hides this information in his electoral affidavit in 2018.
Sumon said Golap made huge wealth by misuse of power and corruption. “I asked the ACC to investigate it and take proper steps against the corrupt man,” Sumon said.
He further said the organised crime and corruption reporting project (OCCRP), a global platform of investigative journalists, has revealed more information that renounced his US citizenship on 15 August, 2019, according to official records, seven months after he was elected as a member of parliament which is clearly contradictory with our constitution.
