IEDCR delegation to the investigation

A 12-member Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) representative from Dhaka visited Soader’s house in Ishwardi to investigate the death of child Soader (7) due to Nipah virus after consuming date juice.
Scientific Officer of IEDCR Dr. Qayyum led the delegation in Soad’s house. Dr. Asma Khan Upazila Health and Family Planning was present there.
Dr. Asma Khan said that the members of the delegation spoke to the family members of Shishu Soad and asked for details regarding date juice.
However, the head of the IEDCR delegation. Qayyum expressed his inability to tell anything immediately to the media. He said that he will be informed about this officially when he returns to Dhaka.
Swaad, son of Sanaul Hossain of Digha village in Sahapur Union of Ishwardi, died of Nipah virus while undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in the early hours of Monday (January 23). Last January 17, date palm juice was sent from various houses in Soad. He drank the juice and got cold-fever. On the morning of January 20, Swad was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. At that time, Soad’s body had a severe fever. When his condition worsened, he was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital that afternoon. He died early Monday morning while undergoing treatment there.
