‘Nayok Raj’ Razzak’s 81st birthday today

Today is the birthday of the beloved ‘Nayok Raj’ Razzak, whose face floats in front
of our eyes when we call him the ‘hero’ of Bangladesh. If he would alive, this Independence Award recipient hero would have turned 81 today.
Razzak was born on January 23 in 1942 in Kolkata. He died on August 21 in 2017. He was 75
at the time of his death. On his birthday, as usual, special
family events are organised
on the day.
Razzak’s younger son film actor Khalid Hossain Samrat told this correspondent that on this special day of the year, he goes to Banani graveyard in the capital after Fajr prayers.
He goes there and spends some times near father’s grave and recites Dua.
“I try to do this regularly. My father used to pray regularly in Gulshan’s Azad Mosque. Some of his favourite people and besides some other people will be fed at Azad Mosque after Zuhr prayers today. Family Milad Mahfil is organized after Asr prayers at his residence,” Samrat also said.
Samrat told this correspondent, “Telling the truth, my father has been gone for five years. But people all over the country still love and remembers my father with respect, I feel and get proof as I go on. When I meet many people, they talk about my father. I am proud to be his child. And on today’s day i.e. on his birthday, my father is specially remembered, especially by those who loved and respected him from the heart. Some initiatives have been taken by the family today to seek the forgiveness of father’s departed soul. Tonight there will be a meeting with close family members, where my father is really the talk of the town. I want everyone to pray for my father, may Allah grant my father heaven.”
In 1964, during the Hindu Muslim riots in Kolkata, Razzak and his family moved to Dhaka from Kolkata. He made his debut as a hero opposite Suchanda in the Zahir Raihan directed movie ‘Behula.’ His last movie as a hero was ‘Malamoti’ directed by Shafiqur Rahman. Nuton was heroine opposite him in this movie.
In 1977, he first gave direction of movie ‘Ananta Prem.’ He acted opposite Bobita in this movie. ‘Ayna Kahini’ was his directed last movie where Keya and his son Samrat acted. Razzak acted last movie was Bapparaz directed ‘Kartooz.’
