Khluna Tigers roar beating Chattogram Challengers

Khluna Tigers recorded an emphatic seven-wicket victory over Chattogram Challengers in their fifth match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Friday.
After yesterday’s outcome, Khulna collected four points from five matches, while Chattogram earned four points from six matches.
Chasing Chattogram’s fighting total of 157 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs, Khulna sailed home scoring 159 for the loss of three wickets when they had four balls to spare.
Khulna had a meager start as opener Munim Shahriar (0) was caught & bowled by Shuvagata Hom when Khuna’s score was naught.
Opener Tamim Iqbal and one-down Mahmudul Hasan Joy rescued their team from danger putting together 104 runs for the second wicket partnership before Tamim was caught by Afif Hossain off Nihaduzzaman when Khulna’s total was 104 for the loss of two wickets.
Tamim hit a superb 44. His 37-ball innings was laced with four fours and a sixer. Tamim crossed the 7000-run landmark in T20 Cricket. He is the first Bangladeshi, who scored above 7000 runs in T20 Cricket.
After Tamim’s dismissal, Joy could stay at the crease for a short period. Joy notched up a marvelous 59. He struck five sixes and one four in his 44-ball knock before he was bowled out by Nihaduzzaman when Khulna’s score was 109 for the loss of three wickets. Joy was adjudged the Man of the Match for his splendid innings.
Then, Yasir Ali and Azam Khan powered their team to reach the victory target.
Yasir Ali remained unbeaten with 36. His 17-ball innings saw four sixes and two fours.
Azam Khan remained unbeaten with 15 runs.
Nihaduzzaman got two wickets conceding 32 runs.
Chattogram had a shaky start as opener Max O’Dowd (6) was dismissed by Mohammad Saifuddin when Chattogram’s score was just 8.
Opener Usman Khan and Afif Hossain repaired the early damage contributing together 70 runs in the second wicket stand before Usman Khan was caught by Nasum Ahmed off Ahmed Butt when Chattogram’s total was 78 for the loss of two wickets.
Usman Khan hit a polished 45. His 31-ball innings was belted with seven fours and a sixer.
After Usman’s dismissal, Afif Hossain and Darwish Rasooli built another notable partnership. They added together 33 runs for the third wicket partnership before Afif was trapped leg before wicket by Wahab Riaz when Chattogram’s score was 111 for the loss of three wickets.
Afif notched up a fine 35. His 31-ball knock saw one four and one six.
Wahab Riaz captured four wickets in the space of 36 runs, while Saifuddin bagged two wickets at the cost of 40 runs.
