Man sentenced to death for killing wife in Kishoreganj

A special tribunal in Kishoreganj on Thursday sentenced a husband to death for killing his wife in Kishoreganj.
The special Judge (District Judge) of Women and Child Torture Prevention Tribunal-1 Mohammad Habibullah passed the verdict.
Accused Delwar Hossain (44) son of Md. Imamuddin, was present when the verdict was announced. He was also to pay fine tk.100,000.
 The Special Public Prosecutor Advocate M.A Afzol conformed this matter.
According to the Case Diary (CD) , on March 21, 2019, husband Delwar Hossain slaughtered his wife named Pragya Mostafa (29) for not getting dowry in North Chanpur village of Karimganj upazila in Kishoreganj at around 10 am. That afternoon, Ahsan Mostafa, the victim’s father, filed a murder case with Karimganj police station. Police arrested him after the case. After a few days of imprisonment, he got out on bail and escaped.
It is to be noted that in 2018, Pragya Mostafa, daughter of Ahsan Mostafa in Itna Upazila, got married to Delwar Hossain. They have a three month old (age at the time of murder) daughter.
