3 drug dealers held with yaba in capital

A team of Lalbagh Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested three drug dealers along with a large consignment of Yaba from Hatirjheel and Turag areas of the capital.
The arrested persons have been identified as Md. Yasin, Md. Ali Hossain and Md. Habibullah.
Muhammad Moniruzzaman, Assistant Police Commissioner of Organized Crime and Car Theft Prevention team, gave this information on Saturday (January 14).
According to the police, the arrested Yasin and Ali Hossain came to Dhaka from Chittagong with the Yaba in the same bus filled in by the devotees of Biswa Ijtema.
He said that some drug dealers are coming from Chittagong to Dhaka’s Ijtema ground along with Yaba in a bus of Hanif Paribahan. On the basis of such information, a team of detective police was stationed in Chowdhurypara area of Hatirjheel Police Station. When the bus arrive, the police barricaded it with microbuses. Yasin and Ali were arrested while escaping from the bus. Meanwhile, the bus was searched and 30,000 pieces of yaba were recovered.
On the same day, according to the information given by the arrested persons, their accomplice Habibullah was arrested in a raid in Kamarpara area of Turag police station. Muhammad Moniruzzaman said that the arrested persons had admitted during preliminary interrogation that they used to collect yaba from the border area of Cox’s Bazar district for sale in the surrounding areas including Dhaka. A case has been filed against them with Hatirjheel police station.
