2 died of drowning in pond at Galachipa upazilla

Two sisters died after falling into pond at Sutabaria village in Chiknikandi Union of Galachipa under Patuakhali district on Thursday.
The two dead sisters were Masud Rana’s infant daughter Musa Maryam (7) and Nizam Mridha’s infant daughter Musa Rafia Akhtar (4). Both of them are cousins.
According to the source of the deceased’s family said Mariam left the house and went to play near the house and Rafia also came to play with him. At one point Rafia fell into the pond and Maryam also jumped to the pond to save Rafia.
However both of them sink into the water of the pond and they became missing.
The family went out in search of Rafia as she did not returned home. After a lot of searching, two bodies were found floating in the pond.
The family members rescuing them took to Galachipa Hospital and the doctor on duty declared both of them as dead.
Galachipa Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shonit Kumar Gayen said that the two children died after drowning in the pond near the house.
However, as there was no complain, the dead bodies of the two children were handed over to the family member without post-mortem, he police official told.
