Mirza Mehedi Tamal, Crime Chief of daily Bangladesh Pratidin, and Mamunur Rashid, Senior Reporter of the English daily Bangladesh Observer, have been elected President and general secretary of Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) respectively.
The result of the election was announced at CRAB office in Dhaka on Tuesday night.
Tomal secured 152 votes while his nearest rival Abul Khayer got 114 votes for the post of president.
On the other hand, Mamun bagged 157 votes while his nearest rival Sirajul Islam secured 110 votes for the post of general secretary.
Other office bearers are vice-president Mizanur Rahman (161 votes), joint secretary Rudra Mizan (133 votes), finance secretary Emdadul Haque Khan (140 votes), organising secretary Anwarul Haque Bakul (219 votes), office secretary Kamal Hossain Talukder (uncontested), publicity and publication secretary SM Foej (148 votes), sports and cultural secretary Abu Jafar (135 votes), welfare secretary Wasim Siddique (166 votes), training and ICT secretary Ismail Hossain Emu (uncontested) and international secretary Tanvir Hasan (138 votes).
Three executive members are Abdullah Al Mamun, Jasim Uddin and Enamul Kabir Rupom.
