The e-ticketing system is going to be introduced for buses of 15 companies on the Mohammadpur-Azimpur route in the capital from Tuesday to stop charging of extra fares.
Under the system, passengers will have to pay for tickets by machines inside buses as per rates fixed by the government instead of the current system of paying fares manually without any tickets.
A total of 711 buses are running under these companies, said the leaders of Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association at a press conference held at the association office in the capital.
The association general secretary Khandaker Enayet Ullah said that earlier on September 22, 2022 the system was introduced to eight companies and on November 13 the system was introduced to 22 companies running in Mirpur area.
Under these companies a total of 1,643 buses were running, he said.
He also added that currently the system was effective for 70 to 75 per cent buses.
From tomorrow the system will be introduced for the buses of Bhuiyan Enterprises, Swadhin Line Paribahan, Dewan Enterprise Ltd, Malancha Paribahan Ltd, Taranga Plus Transport, Alif Enterprises, Avinandan Transport Ltd, Bikash Paribahan Ltd, Gabtoli Express Ltd, Mughal Transport Co Ltd, VIP Auto Mobiles Ltd, Ramzan Ali Enterprises, Midline Paribahan Ltd and Swapna Paribahan Ltd.
