Workshop on nexus between women’s empowerment held

The inception workshop for the LDDP Research and Innovative sub- project “Nexus between women’s empowerment in livestock index and food and nutrition security in smallholder livestock farming in Bangladesh” was held at Bangladesh Agricultural University Research System (BAURES) Meeting Room in Mymensingh on Thursday . The project funded by World Bank and implemented by Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock and Department of Livestock Services. In the workshop Dr. Paresh Kumar Sarma, Principal Investigator of the LDDP Research and Innovative sub- project presented a key note on the proposed project. He was used to introduce new econometric model to identify the impact of LDDP intervention on women’s empowerment and food and nutrition security in Bangladesh. Prof Dr. M. Harun-Ar Rashid, Dean (In charge), Faculty of Agricultural Economics & Rural Sociology, BAU was present as the Chief Guest while Prof Dr. Md. Abu Hadi Noor Ali Khan, Former Director, Bangladesh Agricultural University Research System (BAURES), Professor Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam, Former Director, Institute of Agribusiness and Development Studies (IADS), BAU, Dr. Md Abdul Latif, Deputy Secretary, Monitoring-1 Section. Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Dhaka, Dr. Ali Akbar Bhuiyan, Principal Scientific Officer, Livestock Division, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), and Dr. ABM Mustanur Rahman, Deputy Project Director, LDDP, Dhaka were present as the Special Guests . Prof Dr. Md. Zainul Abedin, Director, Bangladesh Agricultural University Research System (BAURES) was chaired the event.
