Doa and Quran Khani held in SC for departed soul of Khandker Mahbub

A special Doa Mahfil and Quran Khani programme was held in the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) mosque on Wednesday to pray for the salvation of the departed soul of former SCBA President Khandker Mahbub Hossain.
Central committee of the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum (JAF), a platform of the pro-BNP lawyers, organized the programme in honour of the renowned jurist of the country.
Thousands of lawyers participated in it and prayed for the deceased’s soul to rest in peace in the paradise.
Ainjibi Forum’s central President and former Attorney General A J Mohammad Ali delivered a short speech in the program.
Former President of the SCBA Zainul Abedin, BNP Vice-Chairman Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Advocate Fazlur Rahman, Ainjibi Forum’s central Secretary General Barrister Kayser Kamal, former SCBA Secretaries Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokan, Barrister Badruddoza Badol and Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal, Ainjibi forum’s Supreme Court unit’s President Abdul Jabbar Bhuiyan and Secretary Gazi Kamrul Islam Sajal, among others, were present on the occasion.
Khandker Mahbub, who was elected President of the Supreme Court Bar Association on four occasions, died at Evercare Hospital while undergoing treatment on December 31 in 2022 at the age of 84.
He was buried at Azimpur Graveyard in the capital on January 2 in 2023 after his fifth namaz-e-janaza at the Malibagh Chowdhury Para
Jame Masjid (Matir Masjid) after Zuhr prayers, said his junior lawyer Masud Rana.
His first janaza was held at Bashundhara residential area mosque and the second one on Khandker Mahbub Hossain Eye Hospital premises at Mirpur, the third one at Naya Paltan in front of BNP’s central office and the fourth one on the Supreme Court premises January 1 in 2023.
BNP leaders and activists, lawyers as well as judges, and court officials paid their last respects to Mahbub after his body was brought to the BNP central office at Naya Paltan and the Supreme Court Bar Association compound.
On December 26, Mahbub was admitted to the Evercare Hospital, and he was later diagnosed with pneumonia and with fluid in his lungs. The noted lawyer was put on a ventilator a day later and suffered a heart attack while his kidneys were not functioning.
Mahbub, who was enrolled as a lawyer of the High Court Division in 1967, became Vice-Chairman of the Bangladesh Bar Council later.
He joined the BNP in 2008 and he was also one of the lawyers for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. Mahbub contested the 11th parliamentary election in 2018 as a BNP candidate in a Barguna constituency.
