11 injured in Bagerhat AL factional clash

At least 11 persons were injured when a clash took place between the 2 rival groups of Awami League (AL) at Thakurpar area of village Aruadanga within Perikhali Union under Rampal Upazila in Bagehat district at Sunday night over the expansion of supremacy in the localities, according to a delayed report received here. This clash took place between the supporters of Awami League leader and UP member Md. Giasuddin Fakir and Awami League leader Anis Majhi.
It is learnt from the police that the supporters of AL leader Anis Majhi confined Saiful, a supporter of of AL leader and UP member of Perikhali Md. Giasuddin Fakir. Being informed of the matter when Giasuddin member himself and his associates went there to rescue Saiful the clash was taken place between the two groups. In the clash Kamrul Shaikh (30), Anis Majhi (48), Yunus Majhi (52) and Hasib Majhi (35) who were fatally injured were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital in critical condition and other injured persons UP member and AL leader Giasuddin Fakir (45), Azahar Shaikh (55), Hasmat Shaikh (54), Rezaul Shaikh (30), Ruhul Amin (65), Shahab Uddin (30) and Huraira Majhi (18) were admitted to Rampal Upazila Health Complex for their treatment.
UP member Giasuddin Fakir told, we were attacked by Anis Majhi and his associates while Anis Maji told, were attacked by UP member Giasuddin Fakir himself and his associates.
Mohammad Shamsuddin, Officer-in-charge of Rampal PS told, being informed of the matter police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
At present the situation is quite normal. But no complaint was made so far by either of the groups. He added, if complaint is lodged with the PS legal action will be taken.
