17 companies participating in DITF-2023 today

The month-long 27th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) – 2023 is beginning today with 17 companies from 10 countries including Singapore, Indonesia,South Korea and India at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BBCFEC) in Purbachal.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally inaugurate the fair. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi disclosed the information in a press briefing organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Export Development Bureau at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center yesterday.
This edition of the fair is featuring some 351 local and foreign stalls, pavilions, and mini pavilions up from the previous year’s tally of 225 and two gates have been built in the pattern of the Metro Rail at the entrance of the fair.
DTIF plays an important role in our domestic and international trade. This fair is not organized for profit. Spot orders for export of products worth Tk 200 crores were received in the fair last year, Commerce Minister said.
Replying to queries of the journalists, Tipu Munshi said, we have taken steps regarding the quality and price of food products in the fair. The price of food products will be fixed. Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection will conduct raids at fair.
Police administration has taken necessary measures to ensure that there will be no security disturbance during the journey to the fair.
Arrangements will be made for the convenience of transportation to the fair. Initially 70 BRTC buses will come from Kuril Biswa Road to Exhibition Centre. Number of buses will be increased if case of necessary. The bus fare has been fixed at Tk 35.
The fair will remain open daily from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm., however, till 10:00 pm on the weekly closing days.
This year the entry fee for the fair has been fixed Tk 40 for adults and Tk 20 for minors. Fifty percent discount will be given if fair tickets are purchesed online. About 1000 car parking arrangements have been kept at the fair, he added.
According to the information, 319 CCTV cameras have been installed at the fair. The traffic police have taken various steps to resolve the traffic congestion.
Meanwhile, jointly organized by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and the Ministry of Commerce, the DITF fair was first inaugurated on 1 December 1995. DITF is
held annually at Sher-E-Bangla Nagar on the west side of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre. Starting at the 1 January 2022, the fair is holding at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in the capital’s Purbachal area.
