265km comes under CCTV in Ctg

Closed circuit cameras (CCTV) are being installed on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway to suppress theft, robbery and various crimes. The work of installing this CCTV camera is ongoing on the road of about 265 km from the city gate of Chittagong city to the signboard area of Dhaka City highway on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
It is known that the government has taken the initiative of installing closed circuit cameras on highways to increase the capacity of the highway police and to monitor the reckless speed of vehicles to prevent theft and robbery and various criminal activities. As a part of this, on June 23 last year, an order was given to install CCTV cameras on highways under the highway police capacity building project. The expenditure has been estimated at 152 crore 56 lakh taka. The work was supposed to be completed in June this year. But due to not being able to complete the work on time, the duration of the project has been extended till June 2024.
A contractor called Smart Group is working on the project. Meanwhile, the contractor company is working to install silver colored pillars (pillars) at respective places for installing CCTV cameras. Approval has been taken from the Roads and Highways Department to install cameras on highways.
A contract has been signed with the Electricity Department and BTCL authorities for round-the-clock power supply. And these works are being implemented by the highway police.
