Van puller killed in road mishap
A van puller named Shajahan (60) was killed on the spot when his van was collided with an oil tanker (truck) on Dhaka-Khulna Highway at Kakdanga under Fakihat Upazla in Bagehat district on Wednesday at 2 pm, according a repot received here. The deceased van puller was the son of one Abdul Kader of village Pachani under Rupsa Upazila in Khulna district,
It is learnt from the police that on the day at 2 pm the ill-fated van puller was going to Faltita wholesale fish market (under Fakirhat upazila) taking a passenger. But when he reached the place of occurrence his van was collided head on violently with a speeding oil tanker that was coming from the opposite direction. As a result, the van puller was killed on the spot. But the passenger was saved miraculously. He was going to the wholesale fish market to sell his fish there. Following the accident movement of the vehicles was suspended for a few minutes. Being informed of the matter the Highway police rushed to the spot, brought the situation under control and recovered the dead body from the road. Mehedi Hasan, Officer-in-charge of Mollahat Highway police confirmed matter and told, just after the accident the killer oil tanker managed to flee away.
Girl student commits suicide
A girl student named Mim Aktar Moriam (17) committed suicide hanging herself with a ceiling fan in her bed room at Miapara of Mongla Port town in Bagerhat district inTuesday morning after being failed in her Dakhil final examination, according to a delayed report received here. She was a student of the local Chalna Bandar Senior Madrasa and daughter of one Md. Abdus Sobhan and Rawsan-ara-Begum of Miapara.
Mother of the girl disclosed, she (her daughter) appeared in Dakhil final Examination from Chslns Bsndar Senior Madrasa this year. But unfortunately she failed in the examination. She could not take it easily and committed suicide in her reading room in absence of mine and when I returned to my house I found her hanging herself with a ceiling fan in her room. On hearing my crying neighbours rushed to the spot, recovered and rushed to the local Upazila Health Complex where the physician declared her dead.
Drug trader arrested along with drug
Police of Fakirhat Model PS in Bagerhat district conducted a raid in Lokpur area of Fakirhat Upazila and arrested a drug trader named Ramjan Morol (29) along with drug at the night of Tuesday.
Muhammad Alimuzzaman, Officer-in-charge of Fakirhat PS disclosed, acting on secret information a police squad of the PS led by SI Shubhojit Pal raided Lokpur area at the night of Tuesday (at about 9 pm) and arrested drug trader Ramjan Morol. Later the police searched his body and recovered ganja from him. Arrested Ramjan Morol is the son of one Morol Rafikul Islam Moni of Lokpur area.
