Five AL leaders, activists expelled for robbery case

Five activists, including the president of a Union Awami League of Mehendiganj upazila, have been expelled for helping in robbery.
Mehendiganj Upazila Awami League president and mayor Kamal Uddin Khan disclosed the fact on Monday.
He said. the expelled leaders and activists are Salam Dewan, president of Darichar Khajuria Union Awami League and UP member, Shahid Dewan, AL president of Ward No. 8, Mosharref Akon union Jubo League convener and Bachchu and Kashem Dewan, party activists of that union.
Upazila Awami League President and Mayor Kamal Uddin Khan said that they were expelled because of the allegations published in the paper.
They have been expelled permanently for being involved in immoral activities after more investigations.
Earlier, on December 7, the police seized a country-made single-barreled gun along with two rounds of cartridges from Char Khajuria village of the upazila.
Mehendiganj police station sub-inspector (SI) Arifur Rahman said that there are 13/14 cases against Naeem Dewan on various charges including theft, robbery, explosives and murder.
There are arrest warrants in his name in a few cases. Naim’s house was raided at night and he was arrested.
Then according to his confession, a country-made single-barreled gun and two rounds of cartridges were recovered from the house.
In this incident, police station SI Rafiqul Islam has been filed a case as plaintiff under the arms and explosives law. Naim is the only accused in the case.
SI Arif also said that Naim revealed the identity of the godfather as Bachchu and Kashem Dewan, and others as members of the robber gang during interrogation.
However, these two Godfathers although involved in the politics of the ruling AL, but they do not hold any position in the party.
The conversation that these leaders have to pay money on a monthly basis besides paying the share of robbery regularly was also spread through that video. When the video went viral on various social media, there was a stir about the matter.
