Stocks continue falling

Stocks continued to drop for the second consecutive day although the turnover experienced a rise on Tuesday.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), fell 9 points, or 0.15 per cent, to 6,180. The DS30, the blue-chip index, rose 0.02 per cent to 2,191 while the DSES, the index that represents shariah-based companies, declined 0.13 per cent to 1,352.
Among the traded companies, 17 advanced, 136 declined and 160 remained the same. Turnover, an important indicator of the market, hit Tk 269 crore, up by 35 per cent from the previous day’s Tk 198 crore.
