Bangladesh emerge unbeaten champs

Bangladesh emerged the unbeaten champions in the Bangabandhu Asian Central Zone Under-23 Men’s International Volleyball Championship beating Kyrgyzstan by 3-2 sets in the final at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Monday.
Bangladesh won the first set by 25-18 points.
Kyrgyzstan posted victory in the second and third set by 25-15 and 25-22 points respectively.
Bangladesh defeated Kyrgyzstan by 25-19 points in the fourth set and equalized with their opponents.
Later, Bangladesh beat their opponents by 18-16 pints in the fifth set and won the championship trophy.
Earlier, Sri Lanka finished third defeating Nepal by 3-2 sets in a place-deciding match at the same venue.
After the final match, Chief of Army Staff and President of Bangladesh Olympic Association General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest. Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation and President of the Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF) Atiqul Islam, Senior Vice-President of the BVF and Chairman of the Tournament Committee Mohammad Younus, General Secretary of the BVF Ashiqur Rahman Miku were present at the time, among others.
