Ishwardi Free Day observed on December 21

Ishwardi was freeed on december 21. Former commanders of freedom fighter command, brave freedom fighter Golam Mostafa Channa Mandal and Fazlur Rahman Fantu said that after 5 days of December 16, Ishwardi was completely freed from the invaders. However, Company Commander (Pabna) Advocate Kazi Sadrul Haque Sudha said that the day was actually December 19. He said that from April 1971 to December 19, 27 freedom fighters were martyred in the frontal battle in Ishwardi. Liberation war researcher Prof. Abul Kalam Azad in his book talks about enemy free on December 21.
Ishwardi Airport, one of the largest railway junctions of the country, the then large river port of Sara and Ishwardi being the hub of North-South-West communication by road, during the Liberation War, the Pak Army took a strong position in Ishwardi. After 9 months of war with them, Ishwardi was declared completely enemy free on 21 December.
Former government official and researcher heroic freedom fighter Kamal Ahmed said about Ishwardi being freed from the invaders, but Ishwardi was not freed from the enemy on December 16. But we also did not engage in a war with the Pakistani forces on December 16, so as not to waste anything. Because on December 16, Pakistani forces surrendered at Race Course Maidan.
