CPB demands to publish list of defaulters, money launderers

Staff Reporter :
The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) has expressed its anger and concern over giving more concessions to bank defaulters. It said giving such opportunities for the benefit of individuals and groups is not constitutionally and morally acceptable.
The CPB leaders demanded to publish list of defaulters and money launderers, recover the money laundered and also publish white papers of those who advised and given approval.
The leaders said these at the presidium meeting held at the central office of the party in the capital on Monday.
They said that instead of taking visible and effective initiatives to collect money from defaulters and bring back the money back, they are giving more concessions to recover the defaulted loans and giving them an opportunity to stay free from repayment of the default loans.
Criticizing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s statement that the price of electricity should be paid according to the cost of production, the CPB leaders said that the cost of production has increased due to wrong policies and corruption of the government. And some groups and commission beneficiaries have been given the opportunity to earn money. Therefore, the responsibility should not be placed on the common people.
CPB believes that it is possible to reduce the price of electricity and gas if wrong policies, corruption, mismanagement and waste can be stopped. They said, if the price is increased without doing this, the cost of production and transportation will increase everywhere. The increase in prices will add to the suffering of the hungry common man, they added.
In the meeting, CPB leaders called on everyone to strengthen the struggle to end the ongoing mismanagement and change the system, saying that there is no election in the country under the current government or the party government.
CPB President Mohammad Shah Alam presided over the presidium meeting, while General Secretary Ruhin Hossain, Assistant General Secretary Mihir Ghosh, Presidium Member Shaheen Rahman and professor AN Rasheda, among others, spoke at the event.
