Case on attacking police, court rejects bail of 38 BNP men

A Dhaka court yesterday rejected the bail plea of 38 leaders and activists of BNP including Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie and Abdus Salam in a case lodged over plotting to attack policemen and inciting violence against them.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain of Dhaka city passed the order after defense pleaded to grant the accused bail in the case. The prosecution, however, argued to reject the bail plea.
One person was killed and several others including policemen were injured in a clash in front of BNP central office in Nayapaltan of the capital on December 7.
Police filed the case with Paltan Police Station against 473 named and 1,500-2,000 unnamed people over the incident.
