By EVM, election result can be manipulated: Shujan secy
Staff Reporter :
Shujan Secretary Badiul Alam Majumdar said that it is possible to manipulate any election result for any particular party by using Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
He said EVM is not a problem. It is just a machine. But the problem is who operates the EVM. The machine will give output as you give input.
He made the comments in a face-to-face programme with the mayoral candidates for Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) on Monday.
“Shujan thinks EVM is a machine that can be operated by dishonest people. So, it is impossible to organize a free, fair and credible election by using EVM.”
Replying to a query if Shujan is a neutral organisation, Shujan Secretary
said those who are blaming us as a partisan organisation, especially the ruling party, once they praised us for our neutral activities.
When we raised our voice against their corruption, irregularities and misrule, we became bad and partisan for them, he added.
He said it is our culture that when you talk about anyone’s wrongdoing then he won’t accept it and will also blame you as partisan.
“We are not working for any party but for the people and voters.”
The programme was presided over by Shujan Rangpur Metropolitan president Principal Fakhrul Anam Bengue. Rangpur Divisional Co-coordinator Rajesh Dey, Rangpur Metropolitan Vice-president Advocate Khairul Islam Bappi and nine RpCC candidates were present.
