The Victory Day celebrations turned Rangpur into a festive, cheerful and red-green colored city where people from all walks of life paid rich tributes to the martyred best sons and daughters of the nation on Friday.
The Day was celebrated with a call to spread true history among young generations and inspire them in spirit of the War of Liberation to build a developed ‘Sonar Bangla’ free from Razakars, Al-badars, Al-shams, militancy, terrorism, drug and conspiracies.
Tens of hundreds of people attired with red-green colored dresses started rushing to the Central Shaheed Minar, Independence Memorial ‘Arjan’, Bangabandhu’s mural and ‘Shahid Muktijoddha Smritistambha’ and placed wreaths there.
The divisional and district administrations, Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC), Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police, Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP), political parties and dozens of other organisations celebrated the Day with colorful programmes.
The district and city units of Awami League, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad, Ghatok Dalal Nirmul Committee, Sector Commanders Forum, BNP, Jatiya Party, JASOD, BSD, CPB, Udichhi Shilpi Gosthi and many other organisations celebrated the Day.
With the sunrise, celebrations began with hoisting of the national flag atop all government, semi-government and private buildings and 31-gun salutes at the Independence Memorial ‘Arjan’ in the city.
High officials first placed wreaths at the Independence Memorial ‘Arjan’, Bangabandhu’s mural and ‘Shahid Muktijoddha Smritistambha’ paying rich tribute to martyrs of the War of Liberation.
 Divisional Commissioner Md. Sabirul Islam, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rangpur Range Police Mohd Abdul Alim Mahmud, RpMP Commissioner Nure Alam Mina, District Council Chairman and former District Muktijoddha Commander heroic freedom fighter Mosaddek Hossain Bablu, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Chitralekha Nazneen and Police Super Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury with other officials placed wreaths there.
 A smart contingent of police forces gave a guard of honour in presence of high officials and dignitaries who also observed a one-minute silence and offered special munajats there.
 Later, General Secretary of district Awami League Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, President of city Awami League Safiur Rahman Shafi, its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal and leaders of associate bodies and other political parties, freedom fighters, heads of government departments and educational institutions, business bodies, civil society members, professionals, NGOs and commoners placed wreaths.
The Divisional Commissioner hoisted the national flag amid rendering of the national anthem in presence of high officials, freedom fighters and other dignitaries at Sheikh Russel Stadium and released pigeons and balloons with festoons there.
He took the salute from march-pasts and displays by freedom fighters, RpMP and District Police, Ansar-VDP, BNCC, fire service and civil defense personnel, jail guards, scouts, girls in scouts, rover scouts, students and children there.  
Heroic freedom fighters and relatives of martyred freedom fighters were accorded receptions.
 Borhanuddin (Bhola)Correspondent reports: The 52nd Victory Day was celebrated in a festive atmosphere at Borhanuddin in Bhola. The day’s program started with a 31-gun salute at the first hour of Friday. In the morning, upazila chairman, town mayor, upazila administration, freedom fighter leaders and people from various professions laid wreaths and paid tribute to the portrait of Shaheed Bedi and Bangabandhu.
A huge victory rally under the joint leadership of Upazila Chairman Abul Kalam Azad, Municipal Mayor Md. Rafiqul Islam and UNO (acting) Munni Islam circumambulated the important roads of Borhanuddin town.
A parade and aesthetic display was held at Borhanuddin Secondary School grounds at 8:30 am. Upazila Chairman Abul Kalam Azad greeted the parade as the chief guest.
 At the same place, a felicitation ceremony was held for the martyred freedom fighters’ families and freedom fighters. Organized by upazila administration, spoke at that time, upazila chairman Abul Kalam Azad, municipal mayor Md. Rafiqul Islam, Upazila Executive Officer (acting) Munni Islam, Upazila A-League President Jasimuddin Haider, Vice Chairman Md. Russell Ahmed, Youth Development Officer. Mizanur Rahman, OC Md. Monir Hossain, freedom fighter. Ashmat Ali, Abdul Haque and others.
Besides, various educational institutions including Borhanuddin Kamil Madrasa, Bhola Polytechnic Institute celebrated the day through various programs on Victory Day.
Mymensingh Correspondent says: Singair Government High School,Singair, Manikgonj brought out a rally to celebrate the Victory Day on Friday . The rally started from the school premises at 7 am and later everyone paid their respects by placing wreaths on Bangabandhu’s portrait. The headmaster of the school Mohammad Akram Hossain, President of Physical Education Association Md. Altaf Hussain, Assistant Headmaster AKM Arifur Rahman, Senior teacher. Abul Hossain, Shajahan Dulal, Harunur Rashid, Azizur Rahman Badsha, Tapan Kumar. Md. Mohabbat Hossain, Subalchandra Halder, Shahinur Akhtar, Sharmin Sultana, Kazi Abdul Khalek and among others present the rally.
Shahzadpur (Sirajganj) Correspondent adds: The Victory Day was celebrated with due dignity in Shahzadpur of Sirajganj with various programs throughout the day. The program of the day started this morning with the laying of wreaths at the Father of the Nation Mural and Independence Memorial Pillar in Upazila Parishad Square. On this occasion, various programmes were held on the initiative of the Upazila Administration in the local government model pilot high school grounds. Chairman of Upazila Parishad, hero freedom fighter Prof. Azad Rahman, formally hoisted the national flag as the chief guest at the ceremony at 9 am. Later, he accepted the salam in the parade of the students of various educational institutions and visited the display. At noon, the brave freedom fighters were felicitated by the upazila administration. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sadia Afrin presided over the reception. Municipal Mayor Monir Akhter Khan Taru Lodi, Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nazrul Islam Mridha, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Liaquat Salman, A. League General Secretary Ed. Abdul Hamid Lablu, Upazila Vice Chairman Liaquat Ali, Freedom Fighter Vinay Kumar Pal etc. After the reception, prizes were distributed among the winners of various competitions. Apart from this, on the occasion of the day, Upazila Awami League, Rabindra University, Press Club and various educational institutions hold various programs. Meanwhile, on the occasion of Great Victory Day, Shahzadpur Municipality Mayor Monir Akhtar Khan Taru Lodi distributed cooked food among 700 helpless and needy people. In the evening, artists from various local cultural organizations performed recitation, dance and patriotic music in a wonderful cultural program under the banner of Upazila Shilpakala Academy.
