BUET student Fardin committed suicide: DB, RAB

Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET) student Fardin Nur Parash committed suicide by jumping into the river out of frustration and mental stress over financial problem, said DMP Additional Commissioner and DB chief Mohammad Haron Or Rashid.
The DB chief gave this information in a press conference at the DB office on Minto Road around 7pm on Wednesday.
According to DB chief, “Fardin needed Tk60,000 to go to Spain to participate in an international debate competition.But, he only managed Tk40,000 by borrowing from friends and relatives. As he was struggling to manage the rest, he decided to take his life.”
Besides, Fardin was an introvert, couldn’t share anything with everyone. His results were getting progressively worse. First semester CGPA came to 3.15, then gradually 2.67, which was unknown to his family or relatives.
Haron said, Fardin used to do four tuitions. He paid all the money for his own and two younger brothers’ education. He didn’t do anything for himself. Still, there was pressure from the family to return home. He was under a kind of pressure about this, which he could not accept.
Meanwhile, the elite force RAB also claimed that BUET student Fardin voluntarily jumped into the river from Demra Sultana Kamal Bridge.
 According to RAB, this is what came out in the investigation after considering all other evidences including CCTV footage, digital footprints.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, Director of RAB’S legal and media wing said this while briefing the media on Wednesday night at Karwan Bazar in the capital.
However, in this regard, when asked about the comment of victim father Nuruddin Rana, he didn’t want to talk on this issue.
Fardin was a third-year student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology’s civil engineering department and a resident of Qutubpur area in Narayanganj’s Fatullah.
Police recovered Fardin’s body from the Shitalakhkhya river, behind a cotton mills at Siddhirganj, on November 7, three days after he went missing.
