PM Hasina 42nd on Forbes’ most powerful list of women in world

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been ranked 42nd on Forbes’ list of the most powerful women in the world.
Last year, she was ranked at 43rd.
The Forbes list of 2022 put Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, as the most powerful woman in the world. She was followed by European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde and US Vice President Kamala Harris.Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is ranked 36th on the list. She is among six Indians who made it to the list.
As a mark of tribute, Iran’s Jina Mahsa Amini was posthumously featured in the influential list at rank 100.
Since 2004, the American business magazine compiles an annual list of the 100 most powerful women in the world.
According to Forbes, the list was determined by four main metrics: money, media, impact and spheres of influence.
While narrating on Sheikh Hasina Wajed, Forbes writes that she is the longest-serving prime minister in the history of Bangladesh, and is currently serving her fourth term.
She won the fourth term, which is also her third consecutive term, after her party, Bangladesh Awami League, won 288 of the 300 parliamentary seats.
The 75-year-old Sheikh hasina further plans to focus on issues such as food security and access to education and healthcare, Forbes wrote when the list was unveiled on December 9. “An ongoing struggle for Hasina has been establishing a firm democracy in Bangladesh,” it wrote.
Forbes also mentions that ‘Hasina and her Awami League party deny accusations of voter suppression in Bangladeshi elections.”
