Some of the MPs who were present at the rally said that they went to the Parliament with the directives of the party high commands and again they are following the party decision.
They said that they would tender their resignation letters to the Parliament on Sunday to make it effective.
Meanwhile, BNP in the rally also called upon the MPs of Jatiya Party to resign from the Parliament and to realise the democratic rights of the people.
The MPs who announced their resignations are Rumeen Farhana from women reserved seat, Md Mosharraf Hossain from Bogura-4, Golam Mohammad Sirajul Islam from Bogura-6, Md Aminul Islam from Chapainawabganj-2, Md Harunur Rashid of Chapainawabganj-3, Abdus Sattar from Brahmanbaria-2 and Zahidur Rahman of Thakurgaon-3.
Six MPs, except Harunur Rashid who was absent from the rally as he was abroad, announced their decision to resign from the Parliament before tens of thousands of leaders and workers at Golapbag field.
“We joined the Parliament with the party decision. We said that we would use the maximum space given by the Parliament to express our voices. We have tried it, our dear brothers. You have seen how my microphone was stopped whenever I have tried to speak of general people’s affliction,” Rumeen Farhana said.
“There is no difference between our stay in the Parliament and out of the House. So today we have decided to resign following party decision. I am announcing my resignation from here today,” she added.
“We have already sent our resignation letters via email. We will submit the resignation letters in person tomorrow,” Rumeen Farhana said. She further said, “General people have shown red card to the government.”
“You (government) have killed our brothers and fathers, but you could not stop us. Today 17 crore people have stood up against the government. People are not scared of any repression,” she pointed out.
Golam Mohammad Sirajul Islam, MP said that they had taken the decision to resign to obey party high commands decision. “From today a new war has begun against the government. We will remain in the street to carry out our demands for the resignation of the government,” he added.
