BCL beats five youths, handed over to police

The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Dhaka University unit, handed over to police five youths suspecting their link with Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) after a good beating.
The BCL leaders apprehended them when they attempted to enter the campus on Saturday morning.
The incident took place at Mukti O Gonotontro Toron located in front of Sir AF Rahman Hall of the university.
Later, the JCD activists were handed over to the Shahbagh Police Station on “suspicion of sabotage”.
 “After checking their mobile phone sets, we were confirmed that they were JCD activists, and we handed over around 10-15 people to the police,” Riazul Islam, President of Sir AF Rahman Hall BCL Unit, said.
“The BNP and JCD men have come to Dhaka with a plan of sabotage. Students are united to spoil their terrorist activities,” he added.
Noor Mohammad, Officer-in-Charge of Shahbagh Police Station, said, “Five people have been taken into custody.”
“They are being questioned. We will release them if no evidence of involvement in criminal activity is found,” he added.
Centering BNP’s Dhaka divisional rally at Golapbagh area in the capital, the BCL men took position in the various crucial points of Dhaka University campus since early in the morning to resist the BNP’s student wing JCD leaders and activists’ entrance thereto.
