Art Exhibition held in Rangpur

Children and youths from different districts of Rangpur Division participated in the Art Exhibition on the Begum Rokeya University premises to showcase their Art on violence against girls and women. Pro – Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University Rangpur Prof Dr. Sarifa Salowa Dina graced the Art Exhibition as a chief guest while Head of Gender and Development Studies Department Mir Tamanna Siddika presided over the event. Director of Secondary and Higher Education Department of Rangpur Region Professor SM Abdul Matin Lashkar, Deputy Director (In-Charge) Women Affairs Department of Rangpur Saloara Begum, President of Rangpur Press Club Mahabub Rahaman and Programme Manager of Plan International Bangladesh Dr. Hrishikesh Sarker were present the event as guests of honour. “We need to change our mindset to stop violence against women. Family, society and people from all levels of the country should come forward,” said the chief guest. The international development organization Plan International Bangladesh organized an art exhibition today on 8 December 2022 at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur. The main objective of the event is to highlight the various aspects of violence against women so that youths are aware and can contribute to ending violence against girls and women.At the beginning of the event, a theatre for the development of violence against women was staged. Later, the guests visited the art gallery. On the occasion of the art exhibition, an art competition was organized among children and youths of the Rangpur division aged group 10 to 30 years. Artists from different districts of the Rangpur division participated in this art exhibition. All artists skillfully portrayed various aspects of violence against women through their art/paintings/illustrations. Among this selected 10 art displayed in the art exhibition and awarded top three as 1st, 2nd and 3rd out of 10 and handed over crest certificate and cash BDT 5000.00 among the top 3 winners.
Begum Rokeya Day observed at Baraigram

Begum Rokeya Day was celebrated in Baraigram upazila of Natore on Friday. A total 5 Jayitas were congratulated on the day. On this occasion, a discussion meeting was held in the upazila auditorium under the chairmanship of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mst. Mariam Khatun and Chairperson of the National Women’s Organization Mst. Najma Khatun conducted it. Upazila Chairman Dr. Md. Siddiqur Rahman Patwari was present as a chief guest in the meeting. Also, Banpara Mayor KM Zakir Hossain, Upazila Awami League President Abdul Quddus Miyaji, heroic freedom fighter Abul Khair, Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Mst. Habiba Khatun were present as special guests. At the end, 5 Jayitas were given crests and certificates.
