BCL takes position at DU, JCD organizes showdown at press club

The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) took position on Friday in the various crucial points of Dhaka University campus since early in the morning for second day to resist the BNP’s student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leaders and activists’ entrance thereto.
Contrarily, the JCD leaders and workers led by Akhter Hossain, former Convener of JCD DU unit, brought out procession from Jatiya Press Club, but did not enter the campus.
The JCD men held the rally to condemn the obstruction made by BCL, arrest of party’s senior leaders, and the killing of activists across the country and torture.
The two student organizations of the two political parties have been showing this strength following the event of BNP’s Dhaka devotional rally that will be held today.
BCL leaders said, they heard that JCD leaders might enter the campuscreating an unstable situation therein as a flow of Nayapaltan incident.
BCL men were seen racing motorcycle and chanting slogans after taking position in front of Nilkhet intersection, Polashi, Shaheed Minar, Curzon Hall, Doyal Chattar, TSC and Shahbagh areas.
Different groups of Chhatra League led by hall president and secretary took strong position on the campus and gazed for JCD leaders and activists as well as uploaded their photo and video in social media seeking attention of Awami League leaders.
“BNP is a terror organisation. They are conducting terror activities in the name of political organisation. JCD leaders want to create violence on the campus ahead of the implementing their political agenda. But we are alert to resist their misdeeds,” Former DU Chhatra League Secretary Saddam Hussain said.
The BCL also closed down the ongoing shows of FIFA World Cup in giant LED screen which creates a large gathering on the DU campus feaing JCD entry on the campus and violence.
“It is apprehended that a large crowd will enjoy a world cup match. Considering the overall situation, we decided to close the world cup shows in the campus,” Saddam Hussain said.
