Police bar vehicles from entering the capital

Ahead of BNP mass rally, the police have barred the southern part long distance passenger buses to enter the capital. Police have increased their activities in the Kadamtali and Hasnabad area from Thursday morning and passengers coming from Munshiganj, Nababganj ,Mawa and Southern districts were asked to alight from buses. Buses were not allowed to use the second Buriganga Bridge throughout the day.
Apparently, it was seen that the Number of Police check posts are established in the areas of Kadamtoli, Ekuria, Abullahpur , Jony tower, Konakhola, Atibazar,and ghatarchar.They are checking all traveling passengers putting down from buses and surveillance being increased significantly.
Salam Mia, a bus driver of Jamuna Paribahan, said at half past 10 he reached the Kadamtoli area near the second Buriganga Bridge from Madaripur district and police put down all the passengers and compelled him to return to Mawa.
Police argued that the purpose of the ongoing checking was to ensure further security for forthcoming victory day’s celebration. By contrast, BNP leaders said the police imposed restriction on the vehicles’ entrance aimed at thwarting BNP’s rally on December 10.
 Mozadded Ali, General Secretary of south Keraniganj BNP, said that Keraniganj Police increased its surveillance only to obstruct people to join grand rally of 10th December.
Consequently, Additional Police Super of Keraniganj Circle S. Kabir rejected the accusation adding they are working for law and order.
