BNP countrywide demonstration held

BNP on Thursday staged countrywide demonstrations protesting the killing, arrest and attacks on BNP workers in the clash between police and BNP workers in the Naya Paltan area on Wednesday.
During the demonstrations in Bogura, Sunamganj, Faridpur, Rangpur, Thakurgaon, Noakhali, Barishal and Cumilla law enforcers dispersed the processions carrying banners and even detained some of the BNP men from different districts.
In Cumilla, police dispersed the procession of local BNP leaders and workers and detained two of their leaders from the spot in front of the party office.
BNP leaders said when they brought out a procession protesting at Badurtola area, police dispersed their programme and detained district BNP Joint Convener Ashikur Rahman and Vice-President of district Jubo Dal Jahirul Haque.
In Bogura, district BNP staged a demonstration in front of the party office, saying the government was plotting a conspiracy to foil their rally in the capital scheduled on December 10.
“Whatever conspiracy or drama the government hatches, it will not work. BNP leaders and workers are being barred from entering the party headquarters. Police should immediately open the office,” district BNP former General Secretary Jonal Abedin said.
