Staff Reporter :
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders and activists were seen rehearsing around the city’s Nayapaltan BNP office with different types of sticks including cricket stumps.
After 4 pm on Wednesday, more than a hundred leaders and activists of the BCL have paraded the area in front of police.
At one stage of the clash between police and BNP activists, the leaders and activists of the BCL started chanting slogans with sticks.
They announced to resist BNP men on the streets. They also told journalists that BCL will see how BNP’s demand to topple the government from Nayapaltan.
The BCL leaders and activists were also seen shouting slogans against BNP.
Earlier on Tuesday, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday urged party’s leaders, workers and supporters to remain alert so that BNP cannot create anarchy in the name of its rally on 10 December.
“Life and property will have to be saved from arson attackers. BNP is the patron of militancy and communalism.
All areas, including each ward, union, upazila and district will have to be brought under strict vigilance from tomorrow (Wednesday),” he said while speaking at the 30th council of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Suhrawardi Udyan on Tuesday.
He had also said that those who could not wage movement for 13 minutes in the last 13 years, how would they oust the government?
BNP calls it a grand rally but in reality, it turns into a simple gathering, he added.
