Disabled people become resources through proper nursing, training

The disabled people are the integral part of the society. There is no scope to ignore them. We should help in flourishing their hidden talents .They will march forward defying all barriers,” Mayor of Khulna City Corporation(KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque said this while speaking at a discussion as chief guest at Shilpokola Academy premises marking the 31st International and 24th National Disabled Day on Saturday. He aslo urged that physical challenged men will be made resources as well as to contribute national development by imparting proper nursing, education and training.
The chief guest also said the government has been providing various facilities to the disabled people through the Department of Social Welfare side by side the government is very cordial to attach them in mainstream development process of the society.
Referring Saima Wazed Putul, daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been working tirelessly for the development of the physically challenged people, the Mayor said urging all walks of life, national and international voluntary organisations to come forward for their development side by side with government.
Jointly organized by Khulna District Administration and Department of Social Welfare, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Mukul Kumar Maitra chaired the discussion.
Director of the divisional social welfare department Md Abdur Rahman, District Livestock officer Dr Arun Kanti Mondal and Freedom Fighter Md Alamgir Kabir addressed as special guests while Deputy Director of district social welfare department Khan Motahar Hossain delivered the welcome speech.
Assistant professor of the Development Studies Discipline of the Khulna University Bayezid Khan presented the keynote paper.
In his welcome speech, Khan Motahar Hossain said the government has been implementing 54 social safety net programmes through the department of social welfare.
A total of 104 Disable Service and Aid Centers are have been providing services for ensuring safety net of the disabled men including physiotherapy, he said, adding that Khulna Social Welfare Office has been ensuring safety net to reach ‘Suborna National Identification Card (NID) among 48,144 disabled people.
Under the programmes, disabled people so far received Tk 39.42 cr in the 2021-22 fiscal years.
Later, the chief guest distributed different aids including family kits among the under privileged disabled children.

Police Super (SP) in Kishoreganj District Mohammad Rasel Sheikh PPM (Bar) attended as chief guest, Civil Surgeon( CS) Dr.Saiful Islam and ADC( Develop, Human Resources) Kazi Mohua were special guests, while Deputy Director (DD) Md.Kamruzzaman Khan chaired the programme.
A discussion meeting was held at local Child Family (Girls) Auditorium on Saturday morning.
SP Mohammad Rasel Sheikh PMM (Bar) said, people with disabilities are inseparable part of the society.
Referring to various government programmes taken for the development of the people with disabilities. He urged people from all strata, including local and foreign organisations and the civil society, to work together for the welfare of the people with disabilities.
ADC Kazi Mohua said, Underscored the need for providing proper care and training to the people with disabilities so that they could contribute to the overall development of the country.
DD Kamruzzaman khan said, The government has taken various measures, including formulating different policies to ensure the welfare of the people with disabilities.
The social services department is giving regular allowances to the people with disabilities, arranging their education and treatment facilities.

BSS from Bogura adds: The 31st International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the National Disabled Day was observed in the district and elsewhere across the country on Saturday in a befitting manner through various programmes.
This year the day’s theme is ‘Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuel an accessible and equitable world.’ On the occasion, a rally was brought out from the Bogura Zila School premises on Saturday morning and ended at the Bogura Zila Parishad Auditorium after parading main streets of the district town.
After the rally, a discussion meeting, wheel chair distribution and painting competition were held at the Bogura Zila Parishad Auditorium this morning at the initiative of the District Administration and Social Services Department.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Ziaul Haque addressed the function as the chief guest with Deputy Director of the District Social Services Department Abu Saeed Md Kawsar Rahman in the chair.
The chief guest said that disability is not a burden on the society, the persons with disabilities would have to be developed as worthy citizens of the country through providing them with all facilities including healthcare, education and employment.
