166 candidates filed nomination papers in Baraigram

166 candidates have filed nomination papers for 43 posts in the elections to be held on December 29 of Banpara Municipality and Joari and Majhgaon Union Parishads of Natore’s Baraigram. 2 candidates of them won uncontested. According to the election schedule, the candidates submitted their nomination papers in a festive atmosphere on the last Thursday.
After the announcement of the election-schedule on November 7, many candidates filed their nomination papers even earlier. Last day of submission of nomination papers till December 1, Thursday, 44 candidates filed their nomination papers for 17 posts in Banpara Municipal Elections and 122 candidates for 26 posts in Joari and Majhgaon Union Parishad elections.
 Among them, in Banpara municipality, 2 people submitted nomination papers for the post of mayor, 8 people for the post of reserved ward women councilor and 34 people for the post of general ward councilor.
 In Joari Union Parishad, 5 people filed nomination papers for the post of Chairman, 9 people for the post of reserved ward women member and 62 people for the post of general ward member.
Also, in Majhgaon Union, 6 people for the post of chairman, 10 people for the post of reserved ward women member and 44 people for the post of general ward member submitted nomination papers . This information is known from the upazila election office.
In Banpara municipality, Awami League nominated candidate KM Zakir Hossain and other one candidate Md Zakir Hossain Sarkar submitted their nomination papers.for the post of Banpara Municipal Mayor. Mst. Sharifunnessa won the post of 2 No reserved women ward councilor uncontested in this municipality .
In Joaria Union, A-League’s candidate Chand Mohammad, other candidates Md Yusuf Anwar, Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Ali Akbar and Abdul Kader submitted their nomination papers for chairmanship,
Majhgaon Union, A-League candidate Abdullah Al Azad Dulal, the other candidates Md. Khokon Molla, SM Khalek Patwari, Zahid Alam Mondal, Abdul Alim, Md. Solaiman Ali submitted nomination papers for the chairmanship of the Union,. Md Delwar Hossain won uncontested as general 5 No ward member of Majhgaon Union.
According to the announced schedule, the date of scrutiny of nomination papers of both the municipality and the union is December 3, the last date for withdrawal of candidature is December 10, the date of allotment of symbols is December 11 and the date of voting is December 29.
