The police headquarters has directed special operations across the country on the occasion of Victory Day, Christmas and thirty first Night.
According to an order sent by the operations wing of the police headquarters on November 29, the chiefs of all police units and superintendents of police of all districts have been asked to conduct operations from December 1 to 15.
It has been said that considering the context of snatching two convicted militants from police custody in the Dhaka CMM court area on November 20 and the ongoing operation aimed at making the Great Victory Day, Christmas and thirty first Night celebrations safe and undisturbed, a decision
has been taken to conduct a special operation.
It has also been said that besides other places, effective raids should be conducted in places where criminals are likely to hide, including residential hotels, messes, hostels, various institutions, community centers.
During these raids, militants, terrorists, drug addict’s traders, illegal arms holders, warranted accused have to be arrested and drugs and illegal arms have to be recovered in the conducted operation.
Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Manzoor Rahman of the Media and Public Relations Department of Police Headquarters, said this is not a special operation actually. It is routine police work. The directive has been issued to avoid any untoward incident ahead of important events in December.
However, instructions have also been given that no one should be harassed during the operation, he added.
