Stolen goods of foreign ship recovered
Goods stolen from a foreign commercial ship carrying the national flag of Liberia named MV. Asch Elinea were recovered from Kanainagari area of the Pashur River under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat by the members of the coastguards of the Western Zone deployed Mongla after conducting a raid in the area early in the morning of Thursday, according to report received here. At first the members of the coastguards seized 2 boats-one 4 cylinders and the other 2 cylinders from there. Then they (coastguards) searched them and recovered huge quantities of goods including paint and machineries stolen from the foreign ship. Besides this, they also recovered Ramdas (bib sized knives), Chapatis and some other locally made arms used by the miscreants. But the coastguards could not arrest any body as the miscreants jumped into the river under the durk of the early morning and fled away. The members of the coastguards are trying their best to identify the miscreants and arrest them. It was disclosed by Lt. Commander Khondokar Munif Taki, Media Officer of the coastguards of the Western Zone. The Media Officer added, the ship MV. Asch Elinea arrived at Mongla Port from the Sea Port Ruait of Katar after loading 31 thousand 8 hundred 68 metric tons fertilizer for Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation.
Metro rail, Bangabandhu Rly bridge materials at Mongla Port

A ship named MV. ‘ASPM Bangkok’ carrying the engines and bogies of Dhaka Metro Rail and some machineries of Bangabandhu Rly Bridge over the river Jamuna in Sirajganj arrived at Mongla Sea Port on Sunday and anchored with the jetty No.07 at 3 pm. The ship is carrying the national flag of Vietnam. At present the unloading works of the imported materials is going on, it is confirmed by harbour department of Mongla Port Authorities.
Md. Wahiduzzaman, Manager of Ancient Steam Ship Company, the local shipping agent of the ship ASPM Bangkok told, the ship left the sea Port Kobe of Japan on November 06 carrying eight bogies and four engines of Dhaka Metro Rail as the 13th dispatch and 2 cranes and some other machinery materials of Bangabandhu Rly Bridge over the river Jamuna as the package No.178. Two more dispatches of Metro Rail materials will arrive at Mongla Sea Port in the month of December and January. After the completion of unloading of the imported materials will be sent to Dhaka (Uttara) Metro Rail yard and Bangabandhu Rly Bridge construction yard in Sirajganj through land and water routes respectively.
Minor girl commits suicide
A minor girl named Sangita Rishi (10) committed suicide after hanging herself with a beam of her reading room using her Orna (modesty scarf) after being offended over her father on Monday afternoon (at about 2 pm), according to a report received here. She was the daughter of one Swapan Rishi of Rishipara within Rayenda Bazar, headquarters of Shrankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district. She was a student of class-III of the local Bhasani Kinder Garden School.
It is learnt from the deceased’s mother Namita Rani that on the day at noon father Swapan Rishi was taking preparation to attend a wedding ceremony of one of his relatives. Being informed of the matter daughter Sangita became ready to attend the wedding ceremony along with her father. But the father alone left the house to attend to the ceremony leaving her there (house). The girl could not take it easily. So, the girl being offended over her father she committed suicide in her reading room at about 2 pm without the knowledge of her mother. After the incident the mother returned home and found her daughter in hanging position. Then she called out the neighbours who rushed to the spot, recovered the daughter and rushed her to Sharankhola Upazila Health Complex where the physician on duty declared her dead.
Drug trader arrested along with 2.5 kgs ganja
A drug trader named Md. Siraj Molla (56) was arrested along with 2.5 kgs ganja from the village Purbo Saralia under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district by the DB police of Bagerhat district on Monday noon.
It is learnt from the DB police source that on the day acting on secret information the members of the DB police raided the village Purbo Saralia and arrested the drug trader just in front of the local Town High School along with a bag. Latter, the police searched the bag and recovered 2 kgs 500 grams ganja from it. The DB police lodged a case with the local PS under Narcotic Act against the arrestee and handed him over to the police. The drug trader Md. Siraj Molla is the son of one Asgar Molla of village Toyka under Muladi Upazila in Barishal district.
