BGB-BGP will work jointly to maintain peace on the border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar have agreed to work jointly in order to maintain peace on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border.
Major General Shakil Ahmed, Director General (DG) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said this while addressing media in capital’s Pilkhana on Tuesday (November 29).
He said that the separatists have been active on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border, causing chaos. We have brought it in the border conference as agenda. BGB-BGP will jointly monitor the land route along the border to prevent the separatists’ activities on the border.
The five-day-long 8th Senior Level Border Conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) ended on Tuesday with the signing of Joint Records of Discussion (JRD).
Bangladesh delegation led by Major General Shakil Ahmed, Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh, consisting of 10 senior officials from Border Guard Bangladesh, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other organizations attended the Conference.
Director General, BGB, in his opening remarks, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Myanmar Government and Deputy Chief of Myanmar Police Force for a cordial and generous hospitality extended to the delegation members from Bangladesh.
He expressed his satisfaction at the conference and termed this as a great initiative and milestone achievement to establish wonderful bilateral relationship between BGB and BGP (MPF).
Expressing his grave concern over the ongoing unstable security situation in close proximity to the international boundary inside Myanmar, DG BGB urged upon BGP to adopt necessary measures in defuse the situation.
On the other hand, The Myanmar Delegation comprising 15 members from Border Guard Police (MPF), Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Immigration and Population and Department of General Administration was led by Police Major General Aung Naing Thu, Deputy Chief of Myanmar Police Force (MPF).
In his opening remarks in the Conference, Deputy Chief of Myanmar Police Force (MPF) extended warm and hearty welcome to the Bangladesh Delegation.
He expressed his willingness to address the border issues on the basis of a friendly and brotherly spirit between BGB and BGP and in consultation with the concerned agencies and authorities.
