Int’l Protest Day Observance against Women’s Oppression observed

In the light of the motto “Building unity among all, stopping the abuse of women and children”, the fortnight long campaign for the International Protest Day Observance against Women’s Oppression was started from Friday in Barishal.
As a part of the program on Friday a drawing and painting competition of children and teenagers was held at City College premises on Friday.
The event organized by Aparajita Network and District Women Development Forum was inaugurated by Shah Sajeda, adviser of District Women Development Forum Barishal. Students of 3rd grade to 11th grade took part in the competition and painted pictures highlighting the collective unity in the fight against women and child abuse.
Price hike protested

Human chain, demonstrations, distributions of open letter to PM was held on Wednesday, to stop the unbridled increase in the prices of daily necessities and to provide special land to the landless.
Barishal district branches of Bangladesh multi-purpose labourers and hawkers association Barishal district branch organised the programme in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall of the city in collaboration with Bangladesh Students Federation.
After that, a short rally moving on city roads went to the office of the deputy commissioner and returned to starting venue. Bangladesh Students Federation Barishal district general secretary Sakibul Islam Shafin conducted the proramme presided by convener of the district committee of Student Federation Arifur Rahman Miraj.
Among others Bachchu Bhuiyan, Dewan Abdur Rashid Nilu, Nazrul Islam Khan, Yasmin Sultana Mohammad Jaber, addressed the programme.

Anniv of Baptist Church celebrated

Two-day long programmes organized by the Bangladesh Baptist Church Association under the title ‘225 years of the progress of the Christian Gospel’ has started at the Baptist Mission in Barishal city on Friday.
There will be many events around the huge pandal and beautifully decorated premises of the hundred years old Baptist Mission School, on this occasion.
In this two-day event, apart from the cultural activities of various ethnic groups from Barishal, Mymensingh, Chittagong, also participated in various commemorative events also of the programme. Apart from the auspicious beginning of the event through prayers and national anthem, discussions, commemorations, honuoring freedom fighters and cultural events included in the programme. Representatives from 11 Regional Baptist Church Associations outside Barishal and hundreds of delegations from different countries including India, Germany, England participated in the programme.
