‘Bangla Academy for increasing literary practices in district’
State Minister for Cultural Affairs k . M khaled on Wednesday called upon the Bangla Academy and local administration to take measures for increasing cultural and literary activities at the district level and expanding the tenure of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair till March 17, the birthday of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The Cultural Ministry, Bangla Academy and District Administration jointly arranged 2 -days long the Literary District Conference begins in Kishoreganj at local Art Council premises in the town on Wednesday.
The state Minister for Cultural Affairs k.M khaled MP attended as chief guest and Dr.Syeda Zakia noon Lipi MP, Bangla Academy Secretary (Joint Secretary in Cultural Ministry) H.M Liakat, former Additional Secretary in Information Monjour Rahman, SP Mohammad Rasel Sheikh PPM (Bar), Zila Parishad chairman Advocate Zillur Rahman and District Awami League general secretary advocate M. A Afzol were special guests, while Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Shamim Alam presided over.
The literary and Cultural practices, including cultural programmes and discussions on literature, were held at the district and upazila levels which have decreased nowadays. We have to reintroduce the practices and increase our cultural programmes to further strengthen our existence,” State Minister khaled MP said.
