Armed Forces Day celebrated in Sylhet and Rangpur

Bangladesh Army’s 17th Infantry Division celebrated the Armed Forces Day with a colorful ceremony including felicitation of the brave freedom fighters in Sylhet and Rangpur district.
Sylhet Correspondent adds, on this occasion, a colorful program was organized in Sylhet cantonment on Monday afternoon. 205 brave freedom fighters, family members of martyrs, members of parliament, politicians, military-civil officials, media workers and students participated in it.
The program started with the national anthem. General Officer Commanding-GOC, 17 Infantry Division and Area Commander, Sylhet Area Major General Chowdhury Mohammad Azizul Haque Hazari, OSP-Bar, SGP, NDC, PSC, MPhil delivered the chief guest speech.
He paid deep respect to Bangabandhu.
He further said that in addition to performing professional duties, the armed forces are contributing to the overall development of the country through dealing with any disaster at the national level, building infrastructure, serving humanity, suppressing terrorism and militancy, assisting the civil administration and various nation-building activities.
He also pointed out that the members of the armed forces are shining the image of the country in the international arena by performing their duties with devotion in the United Nations peacekeeping operations.
He said that the present government is committed to strengthening the armed forces with modern technology-rich military equipment for modernization, expansion and modernization.
Major General Chowdhury Mohammad Azizul Haque Hazari thanked the brave freedom fighters, family members and guests who attended the ceremony.

On Monday afternoon, 305 brave freedom fighters and family members of the martyrs were felicitated in the cantonment multipurpose hall. Earlier, Major General Md. Faizur Rahman, GOC Area Commander of 66 Infantry Division inaugurated the day by blowing balloons. After that, on the occasion of the day, Rangpur City Corporation Mayor Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, Member of Parliament Moshiur Rahman Ranga, Manoranjan Sheel Gopal, Mahbub Ara Gini, Zakia Tabassum, Abul Kalam Md. Ahsanul Haque Chowdhury Duke, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Sabirul Islam, Rangpur Range participated in the cake cutting ceremony. DIG Moha: Abdul Alim Mahmud, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Nur Alam Meena, District Parishad Chairman Birmuktijoddha Mosaddek Hossain Bablu, along with senior military and administration officials. In the opening ceremony, GOC praised the infinite bravery, cooperation and heroic contribution of Rangpur region and paid tribute to all the brave martyrs including the brave freedom fighters. Along with that, he highlighted the various activities of the armed forces in the protection of independence and sovereignty in the country and peacekeeping in the United Nations. Senior officials of military, civil administration, dignitaries and media workers were present at this time.
At the end, a wonderful cultural program was performed.
